Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace

Standard

Tipu Sultan’s Palace located in the heart of Bangalore near K R Market is a magnificent building. The palace used to be the summer palace for Tipu Sultan. The place would not fit into the exact description of a palace. It is built out of rose wood with nothing flashy about it.

There isn’t anything fancy about this place but still you might like it if you admire Tipu Sultan.

The palace is well maintained with a lovely garden surrounding it. You would not be allowed to take photos inside the palace due to the wear and tear that have been caused to the paintings over the passing years.

Definitely a worth visiting place if you have some spare time in hand.

Bangalore Palace – Beaware !!!!

Visiting Bangalore Palace? Beware!!!

It had been a long wish of mine to visit the much talked about Bangalore Palace. Wish got fulfilled when my hubby got the opportunity to shoot a Pre Bridal shoot for a friend of ours. So one Saturday morning we all headed out for the place. The tickets are priced at Rs 225 per person and a camera charge of around Rs 600. The building looks magnificent from outside but once inside you will not find much to catch your interest. In fact if you try to take a picture of the palace from outside you would be stopped if you have not purchased the ticket for the camera.

The furnitures are mostly fake replicas made out of cheap wood copying some antique design. The paintings too are not much to be awed about.

Anyways once in we decided to continue taking pics. But soon we were stopped by the guards and were told that we are not allowed to do any professional photography without permission. We explained that we were not professional photographers and that we were only doing it for personal purpose. But the guards started misbehaving. They even went ahead to say that we are not allowed to stay in the premises for more than 45 min. Nowhere on the ticket was it mentioned that the ticket was valid for only 45min. The argument got so heated up that these people started abusing us and would not even refrain from abusing the girls. The staffs are totally money sucking bastards who would go to any extent to suck some money out of you in any pretext. So if you are planning for a visit to the Bangalore Palace think twice. In my opinion the place is a highly over priced and mismanaged place. Totally not worth shelling out so much money.
