Wood House Resort – Varkala

Standard

Visiting Varkala and wondering where to stay? Confused or spoilt for choice? Well here’s a suggestion that you could consider. Wood House Resort. Yes you heard(or rather read) me right!! Amazing location and very very wallet friendly.

Situated on the far end of the North Cliff, this is the last resort in the line. But trust me the view is one of the best. Far from the crowd and the shops this place would certainly get a thumps up for the location. The restaurant attached to the resort is run by few people from the North East India. Very friendly and charming people must say. The food had nothing much to talk about it but the restaurant would certainly count for it location. Situated just on the sea shore, separated from the sea by nothing but a wooded fence, it certainly scores high on location.

A few meters down the other side of the resort is a fisher men’s village. You could land yourself some great bargain on freshly caught fish.

The cottage rooms are pretty cozy with all basic amenities and air conditioning. But a small warning for all you people who love to leave their A/Cs on while leaving the room. Do not be surprised to find you’re A/C connection switched off on your return. Power saving is certainly their motto 🙂

The resort also has deluxe rooms on the building behind. The rooms are basic and without A/C.

Reservation to this place can be made over phone. They do not take any advance. But make sure to call them a few times before you visit this place to confirm your booking.

Overall this place scores high on my list of budget friendly and eco friendly beach resorts.

About prynkray

A software engineer by profession and a traveler and foodie by heart. Having traveled ever since childhood it has become a part of me now. So when ever I happen to get a chance I pack my bag and am on the roads. Being blessed with a super tolerant husband who gives into my whim of traveling, we do spend most of our savings on it. Well I do not exactly regret and neither does my husband complain.. Cooking is something I started doing after I left home for job. To be frank I was not such a cook when I started but years down the line I did start enjoying cooking. Picking up recipes from around the world is one of my passion though being a true at heart Bengali, I still love cooking Bengali food.
